afterthoughts about the mass demonstrations in Leipzig

Yesterday I wrote a report about the mass-demonstrations that happened in my hometown, Leipzig. People are divided over many topics and so they are over the demonstrations. For some, these are peaceful demonstrations for freedom and democracy, and for others, they are plain stupid, dangerous, and for some a coup d’état of the extreme right.

I tried to be as neutral as possible. I took photos and videos of the main demonstration and the counter-demonstrations. I did not add things and I did not leave anything out. Also, I did not comment — just share what I saw.

My observations are in stark contrast with many news outlets and I still try to understand this.

I do understand that we all just see our version of reality and I like the story of the blind men and the elephant that illustrates this pretty nicely:

Still, I’m surprised how you can tell a story differently by using another angle. Let me give you an example:
